Kitchen Faucets
Many new homeowners do not get a choice in the type of kitchen faucet
that is installed in their homes by the builder. In fact there are many
other things to think about before you move in. However even new
homeowners as well as consumers living in older homes will change their
kitchen faucets for either aesthetic reasons or because there is a leak
or you are updating your entire kitchen. Regardless there are a number
of design issues that need to be considered in your selection of a new
faucet. These can be divided between practical issues and decoration.
On
the practical side, you will need to select a faucet that can be
installed with your existing kitchen sink or with your new one if one
is being installed. All manufacturers produce faucets with single
handles, double handles, vegetable sprayers and faucets that can
incorporate filtration units. American Standard, Danze, Delta, Moen and
others all have these types of faucets. If you are installing a new
sink, then you can give some thought to the type of faucet that you
want from a practical perspective, just make sure it matches up with
the number of holes in the sink.
The aesthetics portion of the decision is a bit more difficult for some
people when they are selecting a kitchen faucet. In addition the
functionality of the faucet as mentioned above, consumers can choose
from finishes with a shiny stainless steel look to it or one with a
brushed stainless steel finish. They can also be purchased in white or
gold with a variety of functions. Features that you can consider
include filtration systems, pullouts, veggie sprays, spout height,
single handle or two handles and more. In addition the finish of your
kitchen faucet should also match that of your kitchen sink and perhaps
your appliances to be fully coordinated.
One of the best ways to select a kitchen faucet is to visit one of the
many home stores which will have a full display of all of the makes and
models available. Spend as long as you need to decide which one
enhances your home aesthetically after grouping those that can be
installed with your kitchen sink.
